Start by checking the exact ports on your laptop. Not every USB-C port supports video output or USB Power Delivery, even when the connector looks the same. Consult the laptop manufacturer specifications.
List the connections you need: USB-A accessories, HDMI or DisplayPort, memory cards, Ethernet or additional USB-C ports. Check the hub resolution and refresh-rate support against your monitor.
If you want to charge through the hub, confirm its power pass-through rating and remember that the hub itself may use some power. A hub cannot add features that the laptop port does not support.
Compare build quality, heat management, return terms and warranty. Avoid choosing solely by the number of ports.
